maxine foster

Having been born in the Georgian city of Bath, it is not surprising that Maxine's art has been influenced by the lines of architecture. In recent years she - and her work - has travelled a little further afield in order to exhibit her unique take on international city architecture. Maxine mainly uses the mediums of monoprint and screenprint to interpret and contrast both ancient and modern buildings. More recently she has experimented using the same oil based inks used for monoprint but taking the process one step further, working directly on to canvas and acetate, using Lino inks on different surfaces such as MDF and board. A fuller examination of her work also shows an alternative understanding of everyday snapshots of our surroundings. Maxine hails from a graphic design background and this has helped her create strong bold images within her work.

Now living with her two daughters in a small village between Bath and Bradford-on-Avon, Maxine intends to focus her attention on street scenes and natural forms. Maxine teaches Screen Printing to groups and individuals as well as private art tuition for adults and children.

Her work has been successfully exhibited in a number of galleries in the UK including The Victoria Gallery Bath and The Royal West of England Academy Bristol. She became a member of the Bath Society of Artists in 2014.
