sue wales

Sue is a full time artist living and working in the city of Bath, Somerset. She has exihibited widely and holds an open exihibition once a year in her home/studio. She is also a member of the Bath Society of Artists. Her work encompasses everything from portraits, still lives and landscapes. Browse through this site to see her varied and colourful work.

As a painter I love to try and capture the harmonies of colour and light that surround me in my daily life”

Encouraged at an early age by her grandmother, who was one of the first female students at the Royal Academy Schools, Sue Wales went on to Reigate Art School and completed her studies in Paris at the Grande Chaumiere and Academie Julien. She usually works in oils, painting landscapes, interiors, still lives and portraits. Although much of her work is figurative, she likes to experiment in a more abstract format (“there is much to approve of in Sue Wales’s creamy, gloopy, semi-abstracted landscapes” – Metro 2008)
